ROGers: The Musical - D23 Preview
I love superheroes. I love musicals. It doesn’t take a super-soldier serum scientist to realize that this was a match made in heaven for me. One especially awesome part of working for D23: The Official Disney Fan Club is our ability to collaborate with the Disney Parks Synergy team to create preview experiences of upcoming attractions for our D23 Members. It’s also a great chance for us to sprinkle just a bit more magic into a preview to create an unforgettable experience. This includes a slew of incredible gifts and special looks behind the curtain as we strive to make the most of our event. As a special bonus to this event, I got to participate in an interview with the creative team behind Rogers: The Musical for the D23 Inside Disney Podcast. I made sure they all signed my exclusive playbill journal afterwards, of course!
While the spotlight was affixed on the “Star-Spangled Man”, it was our pleasure to host the ultimate “Star-Spangled Fans” with a heroic experience paired to this incredible show. D23 Gold Members in attendance received a stellar stack of gifts to commemorate the day, including the Rogers: The Musical Popcorn Bucket, and Ornament. They also received an event exclusive journal, featuring a design inspired by a Hyperion Theater handbill for Rogers: The Musical. And, to make sure no Skrulls hidden in the audience were able to sim their appearances, everyone received a special embroidered beanie evoking Nick Fury himself – celebrating the latest installment to the Marvel Cinematic Universe: “Secret Invasion” now streaming on Disney+. The beanie was an especially great opportunity for cross-company synergy efforts, edifying priority titles for the studio side and tying them into an already exceptional park preview event. This was the perfect precursor to the Skrull invasion of Rogers: The Musical which happened a few short weeks later via D23 Social handles!
After they received their super-soldier styled souvenirs, D23 Gold Members filed into the Hyperion Theater and sat back for “Rogers: The Musical”. Chock full of amazing musical numbers, incredible choreography, and an astonishing story it’s no doubt that this show is sure to make hearts soar like a shield thrown by Steve Rogers himself.
To “cap” it all off, “Rogers: The Musical” is the penultimate celebration of a hero with a legacy unlike any other. With catchy-comic tunes from the effervescent “Starkettes”, heartwarming moments between Steve Rogers and Agent Peggy Carter, and even jaw-dropping solos from Nick Fury himself (yeah, it happens and it’s beyond amazing), every moment has me assembling for the next time I could catch the show!
Celebrating incredible moments like this with the biggest fans in the world is one of the most special things we get to do as D23: The Official Disney Fan Club. We’re with them all, ‘til the end of the line.
