D23 X-Men Hellfire Gala
There's a few events I put together that make me realize how much I love what I do. The X-Men Hellfire Gala was one that might take the cake for something I'm truly the proudest of being a part of. It's important to note that this epic evening wouldn't have happened, were it not for countless members of the D23 and Marvel teams that came together to collaborate on an event that was translated directly from the pages of Marvel Comics. When you come to your team with the idea to create an event based off of a comic book, most wouldn’t assume that it would combine the worlds of high fashion and mutant culture. But trust me when I say it was an absolute match made in Hellfire.
Collaborating with Marvel, we brought together artwork that has only existed on page into real life, transforming a nightclub in San Diego into the Mutant Island Nation of Krakoa. Complete with three distinct areas for guests to “x-plore”, we pulled out all the stops for the top guest experience. Working with the Marvel Social and Content Team, we curated a well-balanced list of Disney, Marvel and X-Men creators that we invited to come and capture this event. We additionally worked with our sponsor, Marvel Puzzle Quest, on doing a pre-opening influencer content capture before the event began. It was a truly remarkable time, one where I really got to “spread my wings” so to speak.
The X-Men celebrate the idea that the thing that makes you different is the thing that makes you powerful. And better yet, the Hellfire Gala is all about wearing that unique thing on your sleeve for the world to see (literally). It's an honor to be a part of something that allowed so many fans the chance to celebrate their differences and live out their Hellfire Gala fantasies for one night only on Krakoa. This event was a labor of love and I'm so beyond proud of what we put together. Mutant and Proud.
